FCA regulatory statement

What it does

Every page on a regulated firm's site is a financial promotion, and it has to carry the authorisation statement and the risk warnings that go with what the firm actually does. Getting that wrong is a compliance problem; getting it inconsistent across a site is a slower version of the same problem.

This puts it in one block you place once. It states that your firm is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, with your firm reference number, and it carries the risk warnings for the activities you advise on - so a mortgage firm gets the repossession warning, an investment firm gets the capital-at-risk wording, and a general insurance broker gets the authorisation statement on its own, which is the correct outcome for them.

How it works

Add it to your footer or a page and tick the activities that apply to your firm. The wording follows from what you tick, so it can't drift out of step with the rest of the site.

Your firm reference number comes from your account details and appears automatically wherever the statement is used.

You'll need

Your firm reference number (FRN). Your site can't go live without it once this block is in place - that check is deliberate, and it's there so a regulated site never publishes an authorisation claim it hasn't got the number for.
