Who runs this website

Margotweb Ltd (trading as Margot Web) is responsible for the personal information collected through this website (the "data controller"), and also builds and hosts the site itself. Margotweb Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 17494613.

Information we collect

Enquiries. If this site has a contact or enquiry form and you choose to use it, we collect the details you enter - typically your name, email address, phone number and your message - so that we can reply to you.

Technical data. Like most websites, this site's hosting - provided by Margot Web - keeps standard server logs (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request) to keep the site secure and running.

Visitor counts. This site counts its visitors using privacy-first measurement built into the hosting. That counter sets no cookies, nothing is stored about you personally, and the numbers are kept only as anonymous daily totals (for example how many people visited, which pages they read and how often a document was downloaded). Your IP address is used momentarily to tell visitors apart within a single day and is never stored; visitors cannot be recognised from one day to the next.

Cookies. Separately from that counter, this site uses a small number of cookies. The banner you saw when you arrived is how you choose which of the non-essential ones load, and the Cookie Policy lists them.

How we use it

We use the information you give us only to respond to your enquiry or request (such as giving you a guide you asked for), to keep a record of it, and to provide and secure this website. If you tick a box agreeing to marketing emails, we also use your email address to send you occasional news and offers, and we keep a record that you agreed and when; you can unsubscribe at any time. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Your information is handled by Margot Web as our hosting provider, under a data-processing arrangement. We otherwise share personal data only where it is necessary to run the site, or where the law requires it.

Analytics. This site uses PostHog (privacy-focused website analytics), through Margot Web's own account, to understand how the site is used. If you agree to the analytics cookies, they set cookies on your device and measure how you use the site, such as the pages you visit. Some measurement happens before you choose, without analytics cookies; the Cookie Policy explains exactly what runs when. You can change your choice at any time via the "Manage cookies" link.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and to keep reasonable business records, and then delete them. Technical logs are kept for a short period on a rolling basis.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to object to how we use it.
