GDPR, sorted.

Every website needs a cookie banner and the right policies. Your Margot site writes them for you and keeps them current, so you can stop worrying about the paperwork and get on with advising your clients.

Paperwork and admin at a desk

What's handled for you

The website side of data protection, built in - no separate subscription to buy.

A cookie banner that behaves

Visitors get asked before anything non-essential loads. And if your site only uses essential cookies, there's no banner at all, so you're not nagging people who don't need it.

Your policies, written for you

Your privacy and cookie policies, generated for your site and kept current as it changes. This is the bit people pay a service like PolicyDiary around £24 a year for, and it comes with your Margot site.

Analytics that wait for a yes

Margot's built-in analytics is private, doesn't track a visitor until they agree, and keeps its data in the UK or EEA. Optional, off by default - or connect your own Google Analytics or PostHog instead.

A record that consent was given

Every decision is logged, so if anyone ever asks, you can show it was done properly.

A processing agreement in place

When someone fills in your contact form, that's your visitor's data and you're responsible for it. Margot acts as your processor and gives you a Data Processing Agreement, so that side is on a proper footing from day one.

Straight version: you're the business, so you're the one legally responsible for your customers' data - the "controller". Margot is your "processor": we handle the website plumbing and give you a DPA. What we don't do is your wider record-keeping - how you store client notes, files or bookings away from your website. We'll always tell you plainly what's covered and what's yours.

GDPR questions, answered

The questions we get asked most.

Do I need a cookie banner?

If your site sets any non-essential cookies - and most do once you add analytics or an embed - then yes. Margot adds one automatically, and skips it when you genuinely don't need one.

Where's my data kept?

Your site and its enquiry data are hosted in the UK, and Margot's built-in analytics keeps its data in the UK or EEA. If you connect your own analytics instead, that data follows your provider's setup. The providers Margot itself uses are listed in our Data Processing Agreement.

What if a customer asks to see or delete their data?

The enquiries from your website are kept in one place in your dashboard, so you can find and remove them yourself. A one-click "handle a request" tool is on the way.

Does this make me GDPR compliant?

It handles the website side and gives you a DPA, which is a good chunk of it. Full compliance is ongoing and depends on how your whole business handles data, so that part stays with you. We'd rather say so plainly than pretend otherwise.

Do you sell my data?

No. We never have, and never will.
